A Chinese firm has been awarded the contracts for the engineering, procurement and construction as well as the operation and maintenance of the initial phase of Pakistan’s first utility-scale solar park.

TBEA SunOasis, a photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer and system integrator, will build the 100 MW project on 200 ha of land near the city of Bahawalpur.

The firm’s EPC contract is reported to be worth $131 million and the O&M contract $73 million.

The Quaid-e-Azam solar park will eventually be expanded to 1000 MW over 2630 ha of land, according to government plans.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the solar project was held in May.
