Swiss Re New Markets Corp and Mirant have got together to provide generator forced outage insurance to the North American market for cooperatives, investor-owned or municipal utilities with less than 2000 MW of capacity and independent power producers with less than 3000 MW. The insurance is intended to provide increased protection in the region’s volatile power markets.
