TXU Corp subsidiary, TXU Electric and Gas has placed a contract with FPL Energy, a subsidiary of FPL Group, to build, own and operate 242 wind turbines in Western Texas with a combined capacity of 160 MWe. Construction of the project is due to begin late this year and commercial operation is expected to commence during autumn of 2001. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
