GE Power Systems has fully acquired Glegg Industries, a privately-owned water treatment firm, increasing its stake from 82 per cent to 100 per cent. As a result, GE will be marketing Glegg’s E-Cell technology.
The E-Cell technology is an alternative to conventional mixed-bed technology. In a Reverse Osmosis/E-Cell system, E-Cell enables the purification of water without the need for regeneration chemicals. It also eliminates the need for large-bulk chemical storage tanks, waste neutralisation and disposal, and the associated infrastructure, resulting in a significant reduction in overall capital costs.
