Microturbine developers Capstone have begun development of a waste heat recovery exchanger with Japan Steel Works. The heat exchanger will will generate cold air for commercial applications. The unit will utilise Japan Steel’s metal hydride absorption technology and a pre-commercial unit is currently under test. Production of a commercial system is expected late in 2001. The Japan Steel system, produces air at temperature of 14°F.
