Construction of a 1320 MW coal fired power plant in Hub, Pakistan is on track for commercial operation, according to the developers.

China Power Hub Generation Company (CPHGC) says that the project reached a major milestone in September when it interconnected with the national grid network in Pakistan.

“The achievement of this major milestone … indicates that we are on track to meet the deadline of August 2019 for the commercial operation date,” said Zhao Yonggang, CEO of CPHGC.

According to CPHGC, the Hub plant achieved back energization of its 500 kV gas insulated substation from the Jamshoro side of the transmission lines. After energization, the plant achieved energization of the start-up transformer and 10 kV auxiliary power system in preparation for system commissioning of Unit 1.

CPHGC is a joint venture between China Power International Holdings and Pakistan’s Hubco created to build the $2 billion, 2 x 660 MW power plant in Balochistan province.
