The South Korean government has approved a plan for the construction of a 99 MW wind farm involving a joint venture in which the German company Lahmeyer International controls 80 per cent and Unison Industrial Co Ltd holds the remaining 20 per cent. The farm will be built in Kangwon Province, east of Seoul, at a cost of $110 million. It is expected to provide an annual output of 190 GWh. Most of the country’s power is currently generated from nuclear and thermal power plants.
