MAN Diesel & Turbo has signed a contract to deliver three 14V51/60G gas and three 14V51/60DF dual-fuel engines to supply a new power station for Gibraltar. MDT is responsible for the supply and commissioning of the engines, but the plant will be built by the French EPC contractor Bouygues Energies & Services SAS. It will have a capacity of 80 MW and will replace several existing but now outdated diesel engine plants, which also operate MDT aggregates.
"This new contract opens the next chapter in a decade-long partnership," says Dr Hermann Kröger, senior vp at MAN Diesel & Turbo. "MAN engines have provided electrical power to Gibraltar for many decades and will continue to do so for many more."
The 51/60G is the latest addition to MAN Diesel & Turbo’s family of gas engines. The 14-cylinder version has an output of 14.3 MWe and a single cycle efficiency of up to 50% which can be increased to a combined cycle efficiency of over 52%.

"At the same time it’s very robust. It can operate in 95 percent of all ambient conditions worldwide without derating and runs effortlessly on a wide range of gas types and qualities."
