Units 3 and 4 of the plant are slated to go on-stream in September and November 2008, respectively mainly supplying local aluminum smelters. Each power plant consists of a steam turbine, generator, condenser and cooling tower. The steam turbines will be manufactured by MHI, while consortium partners Mitsubishi Corporation will supply the generators and Balcke-Dürr of Germany will fabricate the condensers and cooling towers.
MHI has already supplied eight geothermal power plants to Reykjavik Energy and the latest deal will bring its cumulative geothermal capacity to 340 MW.
