The 100 MW units 1 to 3 at PLN’s Muara Karang plant, located north of Jakarta, are to be repowered, boosting total capacity to 700 MW. The first unit is slated to go on-stream in 2009.

The project consists of a power plant portion, which MHI is responsible for (generators will be supplied by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation), and a power transmission and transformation portion to be handled by Sumitomo Corp together with Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corp and J-Power Systems Corp. Mitsubishi Corp will handle the entire repowering project, including the power plant portion.

MHI will manufacture and install two M701F gas turbines and two HRSGs, renovate three steam turbines, and perform civil engineering work.
