MHI Vestas has signed a conditional agreement with SSE Renewables to supply turbines for the 1140 MW Seagreen offshore wind farm. MHI Vestas has not disclosed the exact hardware that it will deliver to the project, and says that it will only sign a firm agreement order after SSE has taken a final investment decision.
The Seagreen offshore wind farm will be built off the coast of Scotland and is expected to feature 114 turbines mounted on suction bucket jacket foundations.
Last month SSE sealed a voluntary land agreement with Angus Council and Carnoustie Golf Links to allow the development of the onshore underground cable route for the wind farm. SSE holds a Contract for Difference for 454 MW of capacity at the project. It is likely to seal offtake agreements for some of the remaining capacity.
It is aiming to bring the wind farm on-line in late 2022 or early 2023.
