Gulf JP NS Company (GNS) has placed an order with Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) for a 1600 MW combined cycle power plant to be built in Thailand.
The Nong Saeng CCGT plant is a key part of the Thai government’s electric power development plan, which aims to increase power generating capacity to keep pace with growing demand.
MHI will be the turnkey supplier for the plant, which will consist of two 800 MW trains. The plant is due for commissioning in late 2014.
The plant will be equipped with four M701F gas turbines, two steam turbines and six generators. GNS will sell the output of the plant to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) for 25 years.
