GE’s consortium partners for the project are Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios of Spain and CME of Portugal, which will provide integrated engineering, balance-of-plant equipment, site civil work, equipment installation and erection activities.

In addition to the equipment supply, GE has signed a 12-year contractual service agreement with EDP and will lead the EPC activities over the 26-month schedule.

Each of the two GE 109FB single-shaft, combined-cycle blocks will include a Frame 9FB gas turbine, a 450H generator, an A15 steam turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and a distributed control system. The scope of GE’s contract also includes commissioning and training activities.

Equipment shipments are expected to start early in 2008 and run through the remainder of that year.
