The largest ever load bank produced by resistor specialist Cressall has been supplied to Rolls-Royce at its facility in Montreal, Canada. The 60m long installation which can handle loads up to 84 MW is to be used for testing gas turbines. Because of the harsh winter temperatures the load bank is cooled by convection currents rather than fans, and is near silent in operation.
