RWE posted a 15 per cent rise in 1998/99 net profit, and said it will be reorganising its management board to seize new opportunities in the European energy market. It was preparing a programme of international acquisitions worth $32.75 billion over the next ten years. RWE is said to considering the purchase of Severn Trent, one of UK’s largest water companies, and United Utilities, a combined power and water utility.
