Troubled turbine maker Senvion has successfully restructured a deal to supply the hardware for the 200 MW Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II offshore windfarm.
Senvion has announced it has reached agreement with Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co KG (TWB II) for a revised contract that will ensure delivery of turbines for the German offshore wind project.
“We want to thank our customers of TWB II for the constructive talks. The positive outcome secures the continuation of one of our key offshore projects during these challenging times,” said Yves Rannou, CEO of Senvion, which started bankruptcy proceedings in April 2019.
Construction of Trianel Borkum II was due to start in mid-April 2019. 15 of the 32 wind turbines for the project had been delivered to the base port of Eemshaven.
The remaining 17 of 32 wind turbines for the project are due to be delivered in Q3 2019, Senvion said.
“Together with Senvion, we have found a viable solution that ensures the production and on-time delivery of the remaining wind turbines. This enables us to continue the construction phase of the offshore wind farm and start the installation campaign in June,” said Klaus Horstick, Commercial Director of TWB II.
A contract between TWB II and Senvion to service the turbines once installed has not been affected.
