Siemens has received an order to supply its H-class gas turbine technology for the 902 MW Dangjin 4 combined cycle power plant in South Korea.
The customer is South Korean construction company GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, which is erecting the plant for Seoul-based utility GS EPS.
For Dangjin 4, Siemens will deliver the power island comprising two gas turbines model SGT6-8000H, one SST6-5000 steam turbine with its condenser, three SGen6-2000H generators and two heat recovery steam generators. The package also includes electrical equipment and the SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system.
In total the deal is worth €360 million, including a long-term service and maintenance contract for the gas turbines.
Dangjin 4 is scheduled to come on line in the summer of 2017, Siemens says.
Following the CCPPs Dangjin units 1, 2 and 3 this is the fourth unit at Dangjin site (formerly known as Bugok) equipped with Siemens technology, and it is the second one at the site to feature Siemens’ H-class technology, which boasts an efficiency level above 60 per cent
Including the Dangjin 4 project, Siemens says it has now sold 14 H-class gas turbines for six different projects in South Korea. Danjing 3 and Andong are now in commerical operation, while the Ansan, Incheon, Daegu, and Jangmoon CCPPs are under construction.
