Yevgeniy Bulgakov, chairman of the Committee on Fuel and Energy of the Maritime Territory’s administration, announced that North Korea had agreed to the construction of the transmission line across its territory. Talks on this project have been in progress for some time between Russia and South Korea.

According to the agreement, the project may be extended to include linking not just Russia, North Korea and South Korea, but also China, Mongolia and possibly Japan.

Bulgakov said that the project would allow Russia’s Far Eastern power stations to work at full capacity, which will result in a fall in tariffs.

North Korea has said that it is ready to send its experts to learn how to construct 500kV power lines.
