Trina Storage has signed an agreement with Lower 48 Energy to deliver a 98 MWh BESS project at a two-acre site in Preston in the UK. The implementation makes use of the vertically integrated Trina Storage ‘Elementa’ system, featuring the company’s second-generation proprietary cells. Deliveries are scheduled for Q4 2024, with energisation planned for 2025.

The project is expected to bring new grid stability and arbitrage capabilities to the site. It will have the capacity to store and supply 66 million kWh of electricity annually, will help enable further renewable energy generation, and replace gas peaking plants.

Coming from a new independent power producer in the UK market, this project is the first for Lower 48 Energy, and the first investment into UK battery energy storage systems by its majority owner, Castleton Commodities International LLC.
