GE Power Systems has opened a gas turbine service centre in Abu Dhabi. The service centre will be managed by Gulf Turbine Services (GTS), a joint venture between GE and Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Co which was established in November 2001. GTS was set up to carry out repairs on GE and non-GE gas turbine components in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company will be equipped with Dry Low NOx liquid and gas flow testing equipment, robotics and coating cell machinery. Once operational it will be capable, GE says, of making repairs to all static and rotating gas turbine components for gas turbines up to the 120MW class MS9001E. It will also carry out transformer and switchgear repairs.
