Eastern Electricity and London Electricity plan to combine management of their power distribution networks. This will allow the two utilities to cut over 800 jobs, about a quarter of the distribution workforce. Experts estimate that London and Eastern will achieve annual savings of £50 million.
The companies will also bid to manage the distribution operations of other regional electricity companies.
