Technology group Wärtsilä and energy solutions provider RCT Power have announced a long-term partnership for the manufacturing of Wärtsilä’s Quantum energy storage systems, a fully integrated modular energy storage system. The partnership was recently strengthened by an extended supply agreement, which allows Wärtsilä to ramp up manufacturing in Malaysia.

RCT makes stationary storage solutions for domestic and industrial use. With roots in Konstanz, Germany, it operates manufacturing facilities in East Asia, and supports Wärtsilä’s pipeline of energy storage project orders globally. The extension of the agreement enables Wärtsilä to provide benefits to its customers by diversifying its supply chain for energy storage products.

“Wärtsilä is continuously exploring new supply chain diversification plans to best serve our customers’ evolving needs. This strategic move … enhances our operational efficiency [and] delivers cost savings to our customers,” said Rauni Jaskari, director of Supply Management, Energy Storage & Optimisation at Wärtsilä Energy.

Wärtsilä and RCT have had a strong relationship since 2019. This announcement marked an important moment for the partnership, as the parties celebrated passing the milestone 6000 Quantum energy storage units delivered
